Family Reunion + 1

You know whenever you get new shoes you always try to do things “right” by the shoes. Instead of leaving them tied and trying to force your foot into the shoe you always untie and then retie them, whereas with your old shoes you could care less and just wanted them on? You also try to keep them nice and clean no matter what kind of shoe they are. Your old ones, well you don’t know when you last cleaned them.

I mention this because I got some new shoes, a nice pair of AirMax 360’s that I got on sale for $110. I don’t know if I would’ve gotten them if they were full price, but damned if they aren’t a deal at $110.

I guess we do this with all new purchases we make. Look at them longinly and if you’re like me, want to find any excuse to use them in some manner. That’s the good thing with shoes, you can use them everyday.

Oh were you wanting to know how the whole family reunion + girlfriend went? You were weren’t you, well OK I’ll talk about it instead of my shoes.

She was a bit nervous before we got there, though I kept telling her she had nothing to worry about. I’m pretty sure as soon as she met my father most of her concerns went away because she realized he really is a character and one of the nicest people around (which I kept telling her). Getting up to PA wasn’t much of a pain mostly because my dad kept asking Jamie about her job and other things, which was suprising to me but I guess my dad wanted to know and idiotic me kept thinking there was no need to talk about that stuff.

The only downside to the whole weekend is that because I have such a crapy memory and almost never see some of my extended family when it came to introducing Jamie to the rest of the family I kept forgetting names. Some of them I would get, but good lord I forgot a lot of names. When I asked one of my cousins about it she told me I should’ve stopped in the car before we got out and tried to remember who’s married to who, and what kids they have, then it would’ve been easier. Gotta remember that next year, or I can just keep bringing Jamie and she’ll remind me.

Otherwise I thought the rest of the reunion went great, she talked to a lot of the family and because she doesn’t have holes all over her face I’m pretty sure they’re not going to have a lot to talk about.

I’m positive Jamie also liked the fact that we managed to see both her dad and her friend Beth. Beth was a planned visit, her dad wasn’t but upon talking to her on Saturday he decided she was too close to not see so he drove overnight, got a hotel room and we visited him on Sunday morning. It was a bit out of the way, but not enough for it to really matter and it would’ve been terrible had we not been able to meet up with him.

If you want to know more go to Jamie’s page and bug her to update and to include all of the pictures she took.
