Bye-bye Betty

They came yesterday to take her away, to finally put her out of the misery that she’s been in for the past two years. Now I’m not talking about a dog, or maybe even an “old person” instead I’m talking about my old car, Betty. Otherwise known to most of the world as a 91 VW Passat wagon with 300k+ miles on her.

I loved that car like nobodies buisness. Why? Because I did a ton of things in her, I took her on road-trips, I used her to get to school and back, I used her to get laid, hell I used her for anything and everything. And 99% of the time she was a-ok. I rarely had any breakdown’s save for that one time that the clutch came off it’s line so I was basically stuck in neutral..

Really the one reason she was taken away was because she developed some problem we couldn’t figure out. Basically she’d turn on, run ok for a bit, but if I went into first and tried to give her some gas she’d stutter forward and eventually the engine would die. We tried taking her to a bunch of different mechanics but no one could figure out what was wrong. Eventually we gave up and I started to use the Focus and well we all know how that turned out.

Also if there was ever a ‘family’ car, Betty was ours. It started out as my mother’s car, but dad drove it a lot too, then they gave it to my sister to take to college, but after her Sophmore year it came back to me. And I had it for probably 6 years, I swear I’ll never find a car that has a more comfortable drivers seat cause my ass was moulded into Betty’s. Plus I could get the most comfortable driving positions in her.

So it was a shame to see her go, though I’m glad I wasn’t home when the man came to take her away. I’m pretty sure I would’ve cried like a little sissie.
