Weekly recap

This week was interesting for two reasons.

The first one being I went out and bought some rollerblades, OK not the rollerblade brad but some K2 “inline” skates. Why? Oh mostly because I realized I was getting way way out of shape and gaining a bit too much weight so I need something I can do to try to get back into shape. It couldn’t be the gym like some people because I’ve always hated the gym. It couldn’t be going running like some people because I have never liked running if there’s not a reason to [ie, soccer]. So rollerblading it is, because you see when I was growing up all I used to do was rollerblade to and from school, and then go and play roller-hockey. I mean we used to have multiple hour long games with a bunch of people rotating in and out.

The sad thing is, I used to be really good at that too. I mean we made a team up of some kids in the neighborhood and used to play in this local tournament, man we always wrecked house in it.

So with that in mind I laced ’em up on Wednesday evening and decided I’d go for a stroll around the neighborhood. Oh how the times have changed. I barely got out of my street when I realized my legs were already starting to hurt. “What the fuck? I’m already tired?” I thought to myself as I kept on skating around.

I think I got two blocks away and halfway down the street when I realized, “I think my legs are going to fall off, I have to turn around.” I grimly turned around in a cul-da-sac and headed back home. Dejected but realized that I truely was way more out of shape than I ever imagined.

Now my goal is to go out as often as I can with simply going two blocks away until it’s not so bad anymore, than continually adding more to my ‘skate’ until I get back to where I can skate for hours on end without becomming tired.

The other thing that happened is that I installed a new operating system. It’s called Ubuntu, it’s basically Linux for dummies. Which is what I am, and well I’m glad I’m using the simplified version, because I still had to spend about 4 days trying to get things configured right. Right now I’m using it and I have to say it’s pretty damned nice. I’m not sure if it’ll make me switch over from Windows 24/7, but it is enjoyable. There are some nice programs that Windows doesn’t have because it simply couldn’t run anything similar in the NT enviornment. I’m pretty sure I just lost everyone who might’ve been reading this entry, but oh well.
