What did I do today? Oh nothing, except get myself a brand spanking new guitar.

Why did I get myself a new guitar? Mostly because I had been wanting to get one for a while, you see I had one at home, actually I had two. One was my father’s Martin dreadnought, and if you know anything about guitars then you know that Martin’s are about the best acoustic guitar money can buy. And I learned to play a guitar on that thing, and boy was it nice. Because it was a Martin it meant it had some of the best tone anywhere, and I got spoiled on it. However a few years back my parents spent a little bit of cash and bought me a real basic electric guitar because I said how I would like to play an electric one. Well frankly the thing was shit, and I never plugged it in unless no one was home and I could get neat feedback sounds ala-Pete Townshend. So I’d mostly play the Martin, and I’d usually play once or twice a month but it’d be a cathartic thing. I’d jam on it for a while lose myself in whatever I was playing and then feel a lot better.

Well since I’ve been down here I haven’t been able to do that, and I missed it. When I went home for the family reunion I tried to find a way to get my electric down here with me, only to realize that there was no real way to do it without the thing possibly breaking. So I told myself I’d buy one at a Guitar Center down here, the first time I attempted to go to said Guitar Center I got lost, turned around and didn’t get the guitar.

It’s a damned good thing I did. Because I got a sweet-ass deal on a really nice guitar, but when I tried to buy the thing on Saturday my debit card got declined. Apparently because I don’t normally spend 300 bucks in one pop Bank of America decided that they needed to flag my account. Only I didn’t realize that until this morning when I went back to the Guitar Center for their Labor Day sale and it still got declined after I double-checked to make sure I had enough money.

So after 3 trips to the Guitar Center, and a nice phone-call to Bank of America I have myself a damned nice sounding acoustic/electric guitar. Now I just have to wait until later this week to buy a hardcase and some new strings for it, oh yea and a strap so I can stand up and jam out.
